King Abdullah highlights Jordan’s industrial growth at Amman event

(MENAFN) His Majesty King Abdullah attended a ceremony at the Amman Chamber of Industry on Sunday, celebrating the accomplishments of Jordan’s industrial sector in 2025, with a particular focus on its expanding manufacturing exports, according to reports.

During the event, the King presented commemorative shields to a number of institutions, companies, and individuals recognized by the Chamber for their contributions to promoting national exports and enhancing Jordanian presence in international markets.

This year, Jordanian industrial exports surpassed JD5.5 billion, representing approximately 91 percent of total national exports. Key sub-sectors, including chemicals, pharmaceuticals, food, engineering, and textiles, showed significant growth, reflecting the sector’s strategic development.

The event also highlighted Jordan’s accession to the Pharmaceutical Inspection Cooperation Scheme (PIC/S), demonstrating the Jordan Food and Drug Administration’s commitment to international quality standards and regulatory compliance. This milestone aims to increase competitiveness in global markets and expand opportunities for Jordanian pharmaceutical products.

At the Chamber, the King received a briefing from the Chamber Director on major industrial achievements and viewed a mural depicting the history of Jordanian industry.

In his remarks, President of the Jordan and Amman Chambers of Industry Fathi Jaghbir said, “Jordan’s industrial sector maintained its leading regional position in terms of its contribution to the gross domestic product, with a direct contribution of around 25 per cent.” He added that Jordanian exports now reach over 150 markets worldwide, with growing engagement in non-traditional markets across Asia, Africa, and Latin America, building on His Majesty’s diplomatic and trade initiatives. Jaghbir also highlighted efforts to advance the sector through research, development, and technology, noting plans to establish a semiconductor manufacturing company to align with global industrial trends.

Jordan Chamber of Commerce President Khalil Al Haj Tawfiq commented on the integrated nature of Jordan’s economy, saying, “Thanks to this integration, Jordan has been able to turn obstacles into opportunities and prove the credibility and quality of Jordanian products.” He emphasized the potential of the services, industry, and agriculture sectors to boost exports through cooperation between the government and chambers of commerce, positioning Jordan as a regional hub for re-export and reconstruction. He added that the Economic Modernisation Vision represents the first national initiative to unite public and private sector efforts, stressing that continued success depends on ongoing teamwork.

During the event, the King toured an exhibition of Jordanian companies and factories operating across various sectors and received updates on initiatives to enhance the competitiveness of national products. His Majesty also visited the Jordan Industry 4.0 and Digitalisation Innovation Centre (InJo4.0) at the Chamber’s headquarters, where Innovation Engineer Danah Al Qada briefed him on the center’s work to accelerate the adoption of digital and technological solutions in the industrial sector, aimed at boosting productivity and competitiveness.
