In discussions held in Baku, Aliyev stated that Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian’s recent visit to Azerbaijan, along with a series of reciprocal high-level interactions, had contributed to revitalizing cooperation between the neighboring countries, according to a statement from the Azerbaijani presidency.
Aliyev expressed “satisfaction with the recent intensification of our relations” and told Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi that their bilateral agenda is extensive and concrete.
The president noted that both nations now maintain a broadened agenda encompassing numerous sectors and highlighted that the intergovernmental commission is “operating very successfully.”
He cited advancements in areas such as trade, transport, and energy, adding that he anticipated the Iranian delegation’s visit to be “successful and productive.”
Araghchi, in turn, relayed Pezeshkian’s greetings and emphasized that the Iranian leadership highly values its relationship with Baku.
He mentioned that enhancing ties with Azerbaijan was among Pezeshkian’s priorities after assuming office.
The two officials additionally shared perspectives on regional developments and topics of shared interest, the presidency stated.
Araghchi arrived in Baku late on Sunday and is also slated to meet with his Azerbaijani counterpart, Jeyhun Bayramov.
