UK, Qatar Pledge Millions to Aid Rohingya Refugees in Bangladesh
The combined funding is intended to facilitate the distribution of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) to vulnerable refugee families.
This initiative aims to enhance living conditions and curb environmental harm in and around the refugee camps, according to a statement released Sunday by the British High Commission in Dhaka.
Bangladesh currently shelters over 1.3 million Rohingya refugees who fled Myanmar following military crackdowns in August 2017.
The refugees continue to face severe challenges, as no repatriation has occurred and international support has steadily declined.
The United Nations reports that its World Food Program’s Rohingya operations confront an almost $190 million funding shortfall, with $172 million required for essential food and nutrition aid.
The UN agency warned that, without additional financial assistance, food rations could face substantial interruptions starting in April 2026.
