Pilot gets saved after Japanese fighter jet crashing
The F-2A single-engine jet, part of Japan’s Self-Defense Forces, crashed off the eastern coast of the country. The pilot was successfully rescued, reports confirmed.
Officials stated that the incident occurred shortly after noon local time, following the aircraft’s departure from Hyakuri Air Base in Ibaraki Prefecture.
“No damage to vessels at the accident site has been reported so far,” the air force said, noting that an investigation into the crash is currently underway.
This incident follows a deadly crash in May, when a T-4 training jet went down in Aichi Prefecture, resulting in the deaths of two crew members.
