Number of Palestinian journalists murdered by Israel reaches two hundred thirty-eight
According to Gaza’s Government Media Office, Mohammed Al-Khalidi, who worked for the Sahat news outlet, passed away from wounds from the attack that occurred the previous night. His death increased the number of journalists killed in Gaza City on Sunday to six, and brought the overall toll of Palestinian journalists killed in the Gaza Strip by the Israeli military to 238.
The media office stated that the Israeli army targeted a journalists’ tent near Al-Shifa Hospital in western Gaza City late Sunday, killing five reporters, including Al Jazeera correspondents Anas al-Sharif and Mohamed Qraiqea.
The Gaza government condemned “Israel’s systematic assassination of Palestinian reporters in Gaza” and urged human rights and media organizations to “condemn these systematic crimes against Gaza journalists.”
Israel is under increasing criticism for its genocide on Gaza, which has killed over 61,400 people since October 2023.
In November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice over its actions in the enclave.
