Gunfire Claims Man’s Life in Western Sydney
Emergency responders were dispatched around 7 p.m. to a street in Winston Hills, located 23 kilometers northwest of central Sydney, following reports of a shooting.
According to a police statement released Wednesday, officers arrived to find a 22-year-old man shot in the chest inside a vehicle. Paramedics provided treatment on scene before rushing him to hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Police learned the victim had tried to get help from nearby residences after being shot but lost consciousness before emergency crews reached him.
An Australian broadcasting agency noted that investigators are treating the incident as a targeted assault.
Later that night, emergency services responded to a car fire in a nearby suburb. Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze involving an unoccupied SUV.
Law enforcement has established crime scenes at both locations, believed to be connected, and a formal investigation is underway.
