US Rules Out Troop Deployment in Ukraine
Spokesperson Karoline Leavitt informed journalists that “the president has definitively stated, US boots will not be on the ground in Ukraine,” but emphasized that the United States remains open to assisting with coordination efforts and possibly offering other forms of security support to its European partners.
She added that President Donald Trump has instructed his national security advisers to formulate a viable approach to achieve enduring peace through reliable security commitments.
"The president understands security guarantees are crucially important to ensure a lasting peace," Leavitt noted, highlighting Trump’s directive to collaborate with European allies while maintaining dialogue with both Ukraine and Russia.
In response to a question about the potential use of air power as part of these guarantees, Leavitt acknowledged that it "was something the president mentioned in his interview this morning. It is an option, and a possibility."
During an appearance on Fox News, Trump stated that the United States could offer air support to back European nations ready to send personnel on the ground.
He justified this by asserting that "there is nobody (that) has the kind of stuff we have."
