Halkbank Nears End of 9-Year US Criminal Case
In a filing submitted to Türkiye’s Public Disclosure Platform (KAP), the lender outlined recent developments in the US criminal case as well as matters related to the US Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC).
According to the bank, it fulfilled its obligations under the Deferred Prosecution Agreement (DPA) reached with the US Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York, which took effect on March 11, 2026. Halkbank said the required Compliance Report was prepared by an independent expert organization and delivered on schedule to both the prosecutor’s office and OFAC.
“Following the submission of the Compliance Report, in accordance with the settlement agreement, Halkbank and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York submitted the jointly signed petition for the dismissal of the criminal case to the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York on June 10, 2026,” the bank said.
The filing indicated that the next step rests with the court, which is expected to review the joint request.
“Upon the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York approving the dismissal of the criminal case in a short time by taking into consideration the joint petition, the criminal case that has been ongoing for nine years will be fully concluded,” it added.
