Civilians Injured in Krasnodar as Drone Strikes Hit Southern Russia Overnight

(MENAFN) Three civilians were injured following an overnight Ukrainian drone strike targeting Russia’s southern Krasnodar Region, according to regional authorities.

The governor of the region, Veniamin Kondratyev, stated that intercepted unmanned aerial vehicle debris caused a fire in a residential apartment building in the city of Krasnodar, leaving two people injured. He also reported that one additional civilian was wounded in the Seversky district, where several private homes were damaged in the incident.

Local emergency authorities shared visual material showing the aftermath of the strike, including structural damage to a residential building, broken windows, and fire damage inside apartments.

Russia’s Defense Ministry said that a large-scale wave of drone activity was detected overnight, with hundreds of UAVs intercepted across multiple regions, including areas around Moscow as well as several border and central territories. Officials also reported interceptions over the Crimean Peninsula and other administrative regions.

Authorities in Russia have stated that such drone operations have increased over the past year, with UAVs reportedly targeting residential neighborhoods and infrastructure sites. Russian officials have characterized these attacks as deliberate acts intended to offset Ukrainian military challenges on the front lines.

In previous incidents cited by officials, drone strikes have also resulted in civilian casualties, including an attack on a dormitory in Starobelsk and separate strikes on passenger transport routes, which Russian authorities said caused multiple fatalities.
